Event Title: Drugs and alcohol: Carers and Service Users' involvement

Details

Description

On the 22nd January at Kings Church in Manchester, Manchester Drug and Alcohol Strategy Team are inviting carers and service users who have experiences related to drug and alcohol services, or who are/have cared for someone with a drug and/or alcohol problem, to discuss a proposed model of involvement for Manchester. The DAST want to agree a model of participation which has the potential to: • Influence service planning and development of drug and alcohol services • Develop peer support and volunteering systems • Provide access to a range of training opportunities

This is the first event of its kind in Manchester, which focuses on people who use drug and alcohol services for treatment or support, and those who care for them. This event will be the start of a continuing relationship and communication between people who need support, and those who plan and commission services in Manchester. Professionals are also invited to the event, but places are limited in order to give priority to service users and carers. Therefore we would ask that service managers ensure that only ONE member of staff is nominated for their service, however it will be a question of first come first served.
