Source of funding
The scheme is funded by the nine regions of national sports development agency Sport England, which get their funding from the National Lottery.

How much is it worth?
Grants have typically been of £50,000 to £100,000. The focus is more on funding revenue projects than capital ones. Sport England expects secure funding from partners to be in place and for projects to get 65 per cent of their money from other sources. Those looking for smaller grants of up to £10,000 should consider the Awards for All programme, of which Sport England is one supporter.

What's it for?
Sport England's nine regional sports boards will look for evidence that a project will bolster local sports development and support Sport England's aim of getting more people involved in sport. They are keen for projects to focus on disadvantaged groups with an emphasis on helping them to stay involved in sport throughout their lives.

Who is eligible?
Projects that do not have any "unreasonable restrictions" on their membership.

Each region has produced a plan detailing their priorities for sport and investment in their region.
