Subject - Get your 30 a Day

Posted : (Monday 14th May 2007 ) By - Jane (Registered User)On 23 April 2007, the British Heart Foundation launched their latest high-profile campaign, 30 a Day, which aims to encourage people over 50 to get active to safeguard their future heart health.

You may have seen their light-hearted adverts on billboards or in newspapers across the country.

Inactivity is one of the biggest public health challenges facing Britain, with a large majority of people in all age groups failing to get their 30 a day - the Government’s recommended minimum of 30 minutes of moderate activity on at least five days a week.

From around the age of 50, activity levels tend to drop off further – a stage of life when the risk of heart disease tends to rise steadily.

The 30 a Day campaign is focusing particularly on the 50-65 year old baby boomers, some 70% of whom are over-weight or obese, challenging them to maintain or increase their activity levels as they get older.

Getting your 30 a Day could cut your risk of heart disease in half.

Find out more by visiting the campaign website atwww.bhf.org.uk/30aday and getting your free 30 a Day action pack, full of useful information and tips on getting active the everyday way.

Alternatively please call the BHF *freephone number on 0808 156 5630. Lines are open Monday-Friday 8am to 10pm, Saturday- Sunday 8am to 6pm, *freephone from UK Landline only.
